Nicholas Fairbank, Artistic Director
 Nicholas Fairbank was raised on the west coast of British Columbia, studied in Vancouver, London (UK), California and France. Currently, his time is dedicated to his various musical interests and he is often seen locally or further afield as a collaborative pianist, harpsichordist and organist, conductor, or singer (as the baritone in the vocal ensemble Hexaphone).
Mr. Fairbank has earned Master's degrees from the Université de Paris (Musicology & French literature), the University of California at Santa Barbara (French language and pedagogy), and the University of Victoria (Composition), as well as Associateship diplomas from the Royal Conservatory of Music (gold medal winner for pipe organ, 1981), and the Royal Canadian College of Organists (Willan and Barker prizes 1998).
In addition to his responsibilities with Via Choralis, he is Artistic Director for the Viva Youth Choirs of Greater Victoria, teaches on the faculty of the Victoria Conservatory of Music and is a piano and organ Examiner for the Royal Conservatory of Music. He is 2nd Vice-President of the Royal Canadian College of Organists, an Associate Composer of the Canadian Music Centre and a member of SOCAN.
Jennifer Mitchell, Accompanist
Jennifer Mitchell, accompanist, earned an ARCT in piano performance in 2005 and is currently studying piano performance with May Ling Kwok at the University of Victoria, where she will begin her third year this September. She is Via Choralis’ regular rehearsal accompanist, and has also accompanied Inspirata choir and several church choirs, as well as various soloists.
Jennifer has studied pipe organ under Nicholas Fairbank, and has won BC Silver Medals for RCM Grades 7-10 Examinations. She still plays organ frequently, is substitute organist for various churches and is one of the musicians for 8:30 Mass at Holy Cross Catholic Church. She occasionally plays violin, and enjoys composing. Her other interests include reading, drawing, and listening to a wide variety of classical music.
